The 2024 Open House will provide an opportunity to learn about UMaine Extension’s work in Cumberland County, explore the Gardens at Tidewater Farm, attend a short presentation on “Gardening in a Changing Climate” by UMaine Extension Educator, Rebecca Long, and participate in a King Arthur Baking Company Pie Bake-Off.

2024 Speaker Info
Rebecca Long is the Coordinator of Horticulture Training Programs for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. She collaborates with experts from the University of Maine and beyond to create educational programs for gardeners and the horticulture industry. She is passionate about bringing a lens of equity and inclusion to her work. Her focuses include climate resilience, native habitat gardening, and soil.
Rebecca will discuss the impacts of climate change in Maine on gardeners, and steps they can take to build resilience for their gardens and communities by adopting climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
