Nutrient Management in Deep Compost Mulch Systems
February 13, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Event Navigation
More and more farmers are adopting the deep compost mulch no-till system. This system has many benefits including eliminating tillage, reducing weed populations, and increasing resilience to water extremes. However there is little known about optimizing nutrient management in this system. Join this discussion with Bruce Hoskins (UMaine Soil Testing Service Assistant Scientist), Nick Rowley (UMaine Sustainable Ag Professional), Caleb Goosen (MOFGA Crop Specialist), Jason Lilley (Sustainable Ag Educator), and experienced farmers. We’ll discuss nutrient issues observed on farms, research based experiences, and best practices for testing soils, fertilizing, and addressing nutrient deficiencies in this system.
This program is available to attend in-person or via Zoom. Please note: while a Zoom option is available, all speakers will be in-person.
