Creating the Mix:
Ingredients
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
2 teaspoon sodium-free chicken bouillon granules
1⁄3 cup chopped pecans
¼ cup chopped dates
1 cup long grain converted rice, divided
½ cup dried cranberries
Directions
- Use a wide-mouth pint-sized jar.
- Place brown sugar and bouillon granules in a small bowl and mix well. Place this in the bottom of the jar. Press in tightly.
- Place pecans in the jar and then dates. Press tightly.
- Place ½ cup rice into the jar.
- Place the dried cranberries in next and press in tightly.
- Top with remaining ½ cup rice and cover jar with lid.
- Attach gift tag instructions for the final product.
Note: Use the mix within 3 months.
Cooking the Recipe:
Ingredients
1 jar Cranberry Rice Pilaf Mix
2 ¼ cups water
2 tablespoons butter
Directions
- Place contents of pilaf mixture in a pan with 2 ¼ cups water and 2 tablespoons butter.
- Cover and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes or until water is absorbed.
