
Two-Bite Black Bean Brownies
These Two-Bite Black Bean Brownies provide a heartier twist on a classic treat. Made with black beans, they offer a rich and indulgent flavor while being packed with protein and fiber, making them a great option for satisfying your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
- ½ cup oats (quick or old-fashioned oats)
- 1 (15.25 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ⅓ cup pure maple syrup
- ¼ cup oil (canola or vegetable)
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Clean the kitchen area and wash hands with soap and water.
- Grind oats until fine for a smoother brownie texture (optional).
- Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips in a food processor or blender. Blend until completely smooth.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Pour into a greased 8×8 pan.
- Cook the black bean brownies for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Storage
- Store leftovers at room temperature or in the refrigerator in an airtight container and use within 4 days.
- If there isn't a plan to consume immediately, freeze in a freezer-grade container or bag and use within 3 to 4 months for best quality.

Notes
- Sprinkle extra chocolate chips or walnuts over the top of the brownies before baking (optional).
- If the brownies still look a bit undercooked, place them in the fridge overnight to firm up.
- We love to use local Maine maple syrup in this recipe!
- Dry beans can be substituted for canned beans. Be sure to soak and cook dry beans before using.
