“What’s That Bug?!”
- Browse through our Photo Gallery which includes convenient categories such as:
- Ants
- Caterpillars and Sawfly Larvae
- Bees, Hornets, Wasps and Sawflies
- Curiosities (oddballs, rarities, etc.)
- Narrow by Habitat (where was it found?) (for example, “on my roses” or “indoors, in my kitchen” etc.)
- Compare your specimen(s) with Frequent Specimens and Inquiries that are routinely sent or brought to our office each year.
- Submit your Insect(s) to us (there is no charge for identifications).
Still not sure what you have? Check out our Further Help page. For additional insect identification help, we invite the use of e-mail (james.dill@maine.edu) if you have a quality photo you can send digitally. Finally, you can visit us at 17 Godfrey Drive in Orono or stop in at your nearest County Extension Office (list of County Offices) so that a specimen or sample can be mailed to us from there.
