Gardening Course for K-12 School Staff Offered in Cherryfield
School Garden 101, a four-session course for K-12 school staff, will beheld at Cherryfield Elementary School, 85 School St., April 13, 15, 27 and 29, 3-5:30 p.m.The course is designed for teachers, aides, cooks, health coordinators and other staff who want to create a school garden and integrate it with classrooms and the cafeteria.
Participants will learn basic gardening skills, how to plan and document a school garden layout, and how to start a school garden. Topics include composting, soil health, growing seedlings, garden planning, insects and diseases.The sessions provide time and tools for school teams to plan and network. Course organizers recommend that at least two employees from each participating school attend.
