5.15.19 Mummy Berry Infection May 14 to May 15
Midcoast area
I have reports of cups dried up and no new cups. Cups were starting to dry up last Thursday and Friday but were still present. I have no reports of cups in the midcoast area after last weekend (May 13). Most fields in this area were probably not affected unless there was a later developing field.
Hancock and Washington counties
I still have reports of pinheads and cups through out these areas. These areas did have an infection period in this last rain and are likely still at risk for infection with the rain forecast for later this week. Please let me know what your mummy berry plots are doing in these areas later in the week.
If you have applied a fungicide in the past 7 days before May 14 (May 7 or later) your field would have been protected during this infection period. You have approximately 48 to 72 hours from the start of the infection period to apply fungicides with some kickback activity (propiconazole or fenbuconazole) to protect your plants.
