4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Training Workshops (Level I)

SS Instructor Image with StudentParticipation in the 4-H Shooting Sports has steadily grown in recent years and with this growth comes a greater demand for volunteer instructors. The 4-H model is a comprehensive youth development program that utilizes shooting sports as a way of connecting with young people teaching life skills such as teamwork, respect, and discipline as well as safety and enjoyment. Currently there are certified 4-H Shooting Sports Instructors in every county in the state and that list is growing.

April 18th & 19th, 2020 at the York County Fish & Game Association

The University of Maine 4-H Shooting Sports Program will host a workshop to certify volunteer leaders in archery and rifle. Minimum enrollments are required in order to offer each discipline.  Participants will be certified to teach one specific discipline to youth participating in a formal 4-H Shooting Sports Program. Participants must arrange for and complete VOLT training with their county extension office before they can become Maine 4-H Shooting Sports volunteers. Each state maintains it’s own standards for certification that may exceed those established by the National Committee, and may differ from Maine standards
