FSMA Water Lab Updates Webinar
University of Maine Cooperative Extension offered a webinar to New England water-testing laboratories on recent updates to the Food Safety Modernization Act in 2021.
In response to the January 2022 enforcement of the Water Section of the FSMA Produce Safety Rule, an increase in demand for water testing from commercial produce farms was expected. Jason Bolton, UMaine Extension professor and food safety specialist, and Robson Machado, Extension assistant professor and food science specialist, gave a brief overview of the FSMA Produce Safety Rule and discussed how it relates to water labs in New England as well as the methodologies accepted.
