FAQs
Will I actually see a moose or moose tracks?
Hard tellin’!
When and where does the race begin?
Saturday, October 5, 2019, 10:00 AM. Where: Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center, 184 Tanglewood Road, Lincolnville, ME 04849
What time/where is bib pick-up?
Race day morning only, from 9:00 – 9:45 AM. New racers may register at this time, as well. Bib pick-up and race start is in the parking lot at the end of Tanglewood Road.
Where do I park?
The main parking lot is at the very end of the Tanglewood Road, and there are several small lots along the side of Tanglewood Road. Please park as close to camp as possible!
Is this race capped?
Yes. Only 50 runners/walkers will be allowed.
What is the cost?
Registration for the Tanglewood Tracks 3.5 mile race is $20. Due to a limited amount of spaces in the race, and the fact that this is an important fundraiser for Tanglewood, race fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
How do I register?
Online registration is available at www.active.com.
What is the course like?
The course is a combination of wide open gravel road and rocky, rooty, mucky relatively technical trail. That being said, many people find their normal running shoes do just fine on this course. The trails are public, so you might pass some hikers along the way.
May I walk the race?
Yes. Walkers will start with the runners at 10:00 AM. Please check in with us to pick up your number, so we know you are out on the course!
Are pets, headphones, and all-terrain baby strollers allowed?
No — for safety reasons!
Are there adequate bathroom facilities?
There is an outhouse at the start and finish of the race and indoor bathrooms a short walk from start and finish of the race.
Is there food/ hydration along the course?
There will be light refreshments at the finish. Join us afterward for our Fall Harvest Festival and press your own apple cider. Lunch will be served mid-day (donations welcome)!
When are the awards given?
When the timers are finished calculating results — you might consider bringing a change of clothes if you don’t want to wait around in sweaty race clothing!
Do we need race day volunteers?
Yes! If you are interested, please contact us at extension.tanglewood4h@maine.edu for more information.
