Monilinia infection May 9th to 10th

There were conditions for Monilinia infection from May 9 to 10th in all fields monitored with a weather station. In the Waldoboro, West Rockport, Hope, Ellsworth and Blue Hill weather station locations, the rain started about 3pm and in Washington county about 5 to 7pm as the rain moved farther east. Some fields may have another infection period over the night of Sunday May 10th.

If you applied fungicides after April 29 to May 2 (10 to 7 days from this past infection period, respectively), there is a good chance your plants were protected in this infection period. It may not be worth applying fungicide to control mummy berry at this late in the season. If you have not applied fungicides, you have until about May 12th to apply propiconazole or other related fungicide. Avoid applying fungicide during bloom, since the fungicide may discourage bees from visiting your flowers.

The forecast is for rain later on Wednesday May 13th. Please let me know what is happening with your mummy berry plot. We are probably getting close to the end of mummy berry season.
