4-H Shooting Sports — Archery Camp (ages 13-15)
Hit your target at Bryant Pond with our Archery Camp! Maybe you’ve taken Bowhunter and you’d like to refine your shooting skills, or possibly you’re looking to break into archery as a competitive sport. This exciting program focuses on the fundamentals of shooting different types of bows, equipment use, tuning, and target shooting techniques.
We’ll cover every aspect to allow your shooting to improve, and there will be plenty of time for practice and fun. Each day we’ll focus on the fundamentals, and the week will culminate with a friendly competition! You’ll have the chance to shoot various types of targets including 3D.
Other activities include hiking, swimming, high and low ropes course, and lessons in first aid, map and compass and other outdoors skills. The week culminates with a field trip to a professional range for further instruction and a chance to shoot 3D targets.
Week #4 – 7/12/20 – 7/17/20
What to Bring List: WTB Site Based Residential
Because The University of Maine defines firearms and archery equipment as weapons, and has a strict weapons policy for the safety of all, and for liability and insurance reasons, camp program participants are asked not to bring their personal shooting sports equipment to Bryant Pond 4-H Camp & Learning Center without prior authorization from the Camp Director or the Maine 4-H Shooting Sports Program Coordinator. The 4-H Shooting Sports instruction team at Bryant Pond is very familiar with the wide variety of equipment here, and competently provide complete instruction in the shooting sports discipline programs that we offer.
