Maine Woodscraft (2 weeks) (ages 13-15)
Ready for a longer, more challenging camp experience? The Maine Woodscraft Program is a two-week outdoor skill and leadership experience. This is excellent preparation for Junior Maine Guide training but is not a prerequisite.
This exciting two-week program focuses on building wilderness skills and a higher level of self-confidence. During the first week, campers will learn new skills and practice their axemanship and wilderness cooking. From trip planning to backpacking, and canoeing skills to first aid, Woodscraft participants learn the skills needed to enjoy the wilderness safely and comfortably. In our second week, We’ll head out on a backcountry trip to practice wilderness skills like wilderness cooking, navigation, and campsite skills.
The program will culminate with each camper earning their Maine Woodscraft patch by demonstrating their skills firsthand. Many campers enjoy this program as the last step before taking on the challenge of the 4-week Junior Maine Guide the following season!
