Junior Explorer (ages 7-10)

Discover nature. Follow your curiosity. Let the adventure begin!
Every great outdoor adventure begins with curiosity! Junior Explorer invites our youngest campers to discover the wonders of the natural world through hands-on exploration, creative activities, and plenty of summer camp fun.
Designed for curious minds and energetic young adventurers, Junior Explorer is a wonderful introduction to overnight camp at Bryant Pond. Campers spend their days exploring the forests, ponds, and waterways around camp, discovering the plants and animals that call these places home, and developing a sense of wonder and appreciation for the outdoors.
Whether they’re discovering a tiny creature beneath a rock, paddling across the water, or creating something inspired by nature, Junior Explorers learn through play, discovery, and adventure.
Little Discoveries, Big Adventures
Junior Explorer is all about getting outside, asking questions, and experiencing nature firsthand. Each day brings opportunities to explore, investigate, create, and have fun with new friends.
Throughout the week, activities may include:
- Exploring the woods and waters surrounding Bryant Pond
- Catching, observing, and learning about aquatic creatures at Discovery Pond
- Canoeing and kayaking on the waterfront
- Discovering local plants, animals, and their habitats
- Nature-inspired arts and crafts
- Outdoor games and group adventures
- Swimming and traditional summer camp activities
- Making friends and building confidence through shared experiences
Our approach encourages campers to be curious, ask questions, and make their own discoveries. Rather than simply learning about nature, campers have opportunities to experience it firsthand, developing observation skills and an appreciation for the natural world around them.
A Wonderful First Overnight Camp Experience
For many Junior Explorers, this is their first time spending a week away from home. Campers typically stay in Bryant Pond’s bunkhouse or cabins, sharing the experience of camp life with other young adventurers. Our caring camp staff help create a welcoming and supportive environment where campers can feel comfortable, make friends, and grow in confidence.
Alongside their nature adventures, campers experience the traditions that make Bryant Pond special, from waterfront activities and group games to songs, laughter, and Thursday night campfire.
Whether they’re attending camp for the first time or returning for another summer, Junior Explorers have opportunities to try new things, develop independence, and create memories that last well beyond their week at camp.
The Beginning of a Naturalist Adventure
Junior Explorer introduces campers to the excitement of discovering and understanding the natural world.
For those who develop a deeper interest in wildlife, plants, and outdoor exploration, Bryant Pond’s Naturalist Path offers opportunities to continue building their knowledge and skills as they grow.
But there’s no need to follow a particular path. Junior Explorer is also a wonderful standalone summer camp experience for any young camper who loves exploring, discovering, and having fun outdoors.
