Black Bear Cubs (ages 7 – 10)

A group of campers building a debris shelter

Black Bear Cubs is our introduction to wilderness survival skills. We focus on the “sense of wonder” and allow exploration and discovery to lead us throughout this first experience. Campers begin to gain a sense of what it takes to survive and thrive in the wild and find the beauty of the natural world. Black Bear Cub camp creates a balance between learning and play. Childhood games will soon become real survival skills as we introduce fort and fire building, and hands-on activities that provoke curiosity and inquisitiveness. This curiosity and instinct of exploration will be cultivated with tracking and natural awareness lessons. This program includes traditional camp activities like swimming, canoeing, hiking, and ropes course challenges to round out the week. Black Bear Cubs enjoy the comforts of our bunkhouse for their stay with us.
