Ingredients
  

Herbs and Spices for Protein

Beans and Lentils

  • Cumin, garlic, onion, oregano, chili powder, cilantro, thyme

Beef

  • Bay leaf, marjoram, nutmeg, onion, pepper, sage, thyme

Chicken and Turkey

  • Marjoram, oregano, paprika, poultry seasoning, rosemary, sage, tarragon, thyme

Eggs

  • Chives, dill, paprika, parsley, pepper

Fish

  • Dill, dry mustard, marjoram, paprika, pepper

Lamb

  • Curry powder, garlic, rosemary, mint

Pork

  • Garlic, onion, sage, pepper, oregano

Herbs and Spices for Vegetables

Carrots

  • Cinnamon, cloves, cumin, dill, ginger, marjoram, nutmeg, rosemary, sage

Corn

  • Cumin, curry powder, onion, paprika, parsley

Green Beans

  • Dill, marjoram, oregano, tarragon, thyme

Potatoes

  • Dill, garlic, onion, paprika, parsley, sage

Summer Squash

  • Cloves, curry powder, marjoram, nutmeg, rosemary, sage

Sweet Potatoes

  • Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, rosemary, thyme

Winter Squash

  • Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, onion

Tomatoes

  • Basil, bay leaf, dill, marjoram, onion, oregano, parsley, pepper

Herbs and Spices for Grains

Rice and Quinoa

  • Cardamom, cilantro, cumin, garlic, onion, parsley, turmeric

Oatmeal

  • Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg

Pasta

  • Basil, garlic, oregano, parsley, red pepper flakes

Instructions
 

  • Clean the kitchen area and wash hands with soap and water.
  • Choose a seasoning combination. You don't have to choose every herb or spice listed.

Using Fresh Herbs

  • Fresh or more delicate herbs like dill or mint are best added during the last few minutes of cooking or before serving, so they don't lose their bright flavor.

Using Dried Spices

  • If using multiple spices, mix them together in a small bowl first to ensure an even coat on the food.
  • Add before cooking, so their flavors can be released with the heat.
