Cooking Demonstration Guidelines

Appearance

  • Presenters should wear an apron, or have a towel in a belt loop if an apron is not worn
  • Presenters’ hair should be held back by a net or hair tie
  • Keep area tidy, move unused items to the left or right of your work area
  • Supplies should not feature brand names – you may cover any logos or decant supplies into another container
  • Food in neat, marked, look-alike containers

Food Safety

  • Presenters should state that hands have been washed (and DO wash them before your demonstration!)
  • Never lick fingers or utensils

Presentation Tips

  • Show that you know how to measure dry and liquid ingredients properly
  • Suggestion: use a clear mixing bowl so the audience can better see
  • Clean off work area and then display finished product
